RANGE CLOSED
As noted above, the rifle and pistol ranges will be closed for a private party on Saturday, July 8th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
CLEAN UP DAY
Sunday, July 9th from 8:30 to noon, we’re asking members to come out and help us spruce up the grounds and help with painting and making repairs on the rifle and pistol ranges. Lunch will be provided.
HUNTER ED CLASS
Saturday, July 15 from 8 until noon, the Stone Lake Hunter Education class will be using the rifle range for some .22 shooting and possibly using the lawn for some archery shooting if we can get a volunteer instructor.
PICNIC AND ELECTION
Our July election meeting will begin at noon. Two directors’ positions will have to be filled as well as all the officers’ positions. The picnic will begin upon completion of the general meeting. Shirl LaBarre has consented to act as Secretary-Treasurer upon retirement of Sheila Shambaugh. However, Shirl does not feel comfortable in that role and feels there would be a conflict of interest since her husband is an officer. She will act as long as her position is a non-voting position. The by-laws will have to be amended to cover this issue. In addition, a committee has been appointed to look into revising the by-laws after the July meeting. Anyone who is interested in participating in this undertaking can contact Ron Highsmith, who is heading this committee. He can be contacted at ron_highsmith@yahoo.com.
As usual, the club will provide the chicken, pop and coffee, just bring a dish to pass and your own utensils. In addition, there will be raffles. Some of the items will be a large wind chime, a Henry .22 survival rifle, 60-inch flat screen TV, cribbage board and possibly other items. If the membership agrees, all proceeds will go to the Bruce Buck Memorial scholarship fund.
MOSQUITO SQUAD
Mosquito Squad has been hired to spray the ranges for ticks and mosquitos and has already sprayed one time. They will spray again in July and August. In addition, they will have an advertising sign down on the rifle range. Welcome, Mosquito Squad.
